My attention was caught by an advertisement of coffee product that says “Para kanino ka bumangon?” Probably you have heard or seen these in T.V. Catchy and remarkable, but it really gives you a thought.
Para kanino ka nga ba bumabangon? What motivates you to get off your bed, jump in cold shower and hit traffic to travel for work? What gets you ready to make your day?
To a mother or father, it will be for the family.
To a child, it will be for his studies, dreams or his parents.
To a young adult, it will be about his career, or his dreams for his family or future family.
To a wife, it will be for her husband and vice versa.
All of us, in every way have nuggets of reason why we get up, pick our mat and walk to our desired journey.
Para kanino ka bumabangon, really speaks, what do you really value today or who is your priority?
We might have words we haven’t said to someone, actions of love we need to serve, goals we need to achieve or fear we need to conquer.
What you prioritize is the most valuable thing for you. The way you spend your time is a result of the way you really see your priorities.
Just to share three things from our smallgroup topic and to help you reflect.
1. Embrace new beginning.
Every day in itself is a new start, new beginnings to assess and re-evaluate your priorities, mindset and your attitudes.
It’s a chance given by God to change our words, our thoughts and our actions. It’s a chance to explore, to discover, to change, to do better, to give more and to love more.
In those everyday chances, what do you learn from yourself? How did you grow? And what is your realization to apply in life?
2. We always have a choice.
We have a choice whether to fill our day with love, of happiness, of complacency or of fear. Our choices determine what really is in our heart, our motives. We have a choice to whom and what we value and that will reflect the outcome of our life.
In Romans 12:2 “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind”
Do not conform to the values of the world; money, entitlement, recognitions and materials things. Choose to obey God’s value: relationship, time with your loved ones, compassion, integrity, and love.
Choose to apply His values; be more patient, be wiser, more loving, more resourceful, more diligent, more creative, more understanding. Fight your desires to honor Him every day and to be the better person He wants you to be.
3. Pursue God.
Where do you invest your time, your energy and your passion will reflect the answer to the question itself “Para kanino ka ba bumabangon?”
How you spend your time, where your money goes, and where you invest your energy is equivalent to choosing God or rejecting Him.
As you start the day, remember that He is in control, not you.
As you make plans for the day, remember that He is really in charge of it. Whether you realize it or not, He is doing something important in your life, something different from what you expected.
