1. BEFORE A WORD IS ON MY TONGUE
Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether
(Psalm 139:4, ESV)
Even before I say what I think, or do what I say, God already knows it.
2. IN VIEW OF GOD’S MERCY
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship” (Romans 12:1, NIV).
Every time I thought to live a way that is opposed to Him I would only think, “In view of His mercy, in view of His mercy…remember His mercy.”
3. WHATEVER WAS TO MY PROFIT
“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ” (Philippians 3:7).
4. NO EYE HAS SEEN
“But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—“ (1 Corinthians 2:9, ESV)
God’s wonderful plan is just around the corner, and it is too wonderful for me or any other human being to even imagine what it would be!
5. HE GIVES SLEEP TO THOSE HE LOVES
“In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat– for he grants sleep to those he loves (Psalm 127:2, NIV).”
6. MY KINGDOM AND MY RIGHTEOUSNESS
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33, ESV).
7. EXCEL IN THE GRACE OF GIVING
“But since you excel in everything–in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you –see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” (2 Corinthians 8:7, NIV).”
8. YOU MADE ME TRUST AT MY MOTHER’S BREAST
“Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast” (Psalm 22:9, NIV).
9. GOD’S WILL FOR MY SANCTIFICATION
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification…”
It means that more than my happiness, more than my comfort, more than getting what I want, God’s Will is that I be sanctified. That is, to be pure and holy and more Christ-like as I grow older in my faith, not so I can be a great human being but for a deeper purpose, or not so I can be spared from challenges, but for the end goal of being good and strong enough to face the highest form of purity and holiness that we have in the Lord.
10. BETTER LATTER DAYS
“ And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning…” (Job 42:12).
Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether
(Psalm 139:4, ESV)
Even before I say what I think, or do what I say, God already knows it.
